Ashwagandha is also known as Withania somnifera, Indian ginseng, and Winter cherry. Ashwagandha roots are one of the important medicinal herbs in Ayurveda, the traditional medicine of India. It is considered an 'adaptogen', which can improve our physical energy, increase immunity to colds and infections, and increase sexual capacity and fertility.
The main constituents of ashwagandha are alkaloids and steroidal lactones. In Ayurveda Ashwagandha is believed to posess aphrodisiac, rejuvenative and anti-aging properties. The traditional Indian medicine uses Ashwagandha to treat symptoms like chronic fatigue, bone weakness, loose teeth, impotency, premature ageing, constipation, nervous exhaustion, anxiety, arthritis pain, and memory loss etc.
The recommended dosage is between 600 to 1000 mg, twice daily. People who suffer from insomnia and anxiety may benefit by adding a teaspoon of Ashwagandha to a cup of hot water or juice before bed time.
Avoid using if you are sensitive to plants in the nightshade family, if you have hemochromatosis (excess iron) or hyperthyroidism. Also avoid during pregnancy.

Golden Milk
Makes 4 glasses
Takes 5 mins, with 1 hr presoaking
You will need a blender
Ingredients: 2 tbsp flax seeds, soaked 1-2 hours
1 lemon, juiced
2 cm root ginger
1 litre purest water available
1 tsp lecithin granules
br /> 1/4 tsp purple corn
1/4 tsp ashwaganda
Soak flax seeds in a little water until they become gelatinous. Juice the lemon, chop a chunk of ginger, and throw everything in the blender. Whizz up for a minute. Say a positive intention, prayer, or, with your finger, draw a sacred symbol on the blender while it's whizzing away to make your milk even more magical.
