Our cacao beans are Criollo type (nicknamed the "Queen of Cacao"). This is an ancient, non-hybrid type that grows in Peru. It has a sweet aroma; there is almost no bitterness and it has a delicate, well-balanced, exquisite taste. Today the production of Criollo cocoa is very scarce because Criollo trees are very difficult to grow and they produce fewer seeds than the other varieties and it is classified as "Fine grade".
Cacao beans has no sugar but contains protein, fat, carbohydrate, fibre, iron, calcium, magnesium, B vitamins, vitamin C and E and many other chemical constituents. The high content of magnesium in cacao beans can increases the strength of heart muscle, decreases blood coagulation, regulates our blood pressure, and reduces the likelihood of blood clots and strokes. Cacao beans can also help reduce the symptoms and risk of arteries and veins hardening, and menstrual cramping. Magnesium can increase alkalinity in our body. Magnesium’s alkalinity can greatly help us in detoxification.
Cacao beans also contains Serotonin, Tryptophan, Anandamide, Dopamine, Phenylethylamine (PEA) and Monoamine Oxidase Enzyme Inhibitors (MAO). These all have a positive effect on brain chemistry becaue they allow more serotonin and other neurotransmitters to circulate in the brain. These natural chemical are related to the feeling of happiness.

Tryptophan is an anti-depressant amino acid. It plays an important role in the production of serotonin in our brain.
Serotonin
Serotonin is an anti-stress neurotransmitter which diminished anxiety and increases our ability to fend off stress. Serotonin is also believed to be able to improve man's premature ejaculation (PE) problem.
Phenylethanamine (PEA)
PEA is an adrenal-relevant chemical. It is known as the ‘love’ substance because it is released while man and women are in love. PEA plays a role in increasing focus, alertness and having a positive outlook on life which makes Cacao natures answer to Prozac.
Anandamide
Anandamide is known as the ‘bliss chemical’ because it is released while we are feeling great.
Dopamine
Dopamine is a mood regulator that helps to limit food in-take and compulsive behaviours whilst increasing mental concentration and positive attitudes.
