Most cereals have a shell - when they begin to be processed, it is removed - these are the bran. Despite being a residual product of flour milling, wheat bran have rich nutritional profile. They provide essential fatty acids and soluble fiber - cellulose, hemicellulose and lignin. They are good if you have constipation.
