Frankincense essential oil is derived from steam distillation of the resin of Boswellia carterii, an evergreen tree from the Burseraceae family. It is native to the Arabian Peninsula (Oman, Yemen), and northeastern Africa (Somalia). Frankincense, a resinous and dry sap, is extracted from this tree. The oil is pale yellow to yellow in colour, with balsamic, woody and fruity (lemon) fragrance, promoting properties of food flavour. MARNYS® Frankincense essential oil contains chemotypes: α-pinene, limonene, ρ-cymene.
