Maple sugar has the distinctive and authentic taste of maple syrup often reminiscent of caramel and liquorice. Made from maple trees grown in the southern regions of Canada and the northeaster United States. It is about twice as sweet as traditional white sugar and can completely replace it. 90% of its composition is sucrose.
It is suitable for sweetening foods, desserts and various beverages. In American cuisine, it is used in the preparation of baked beans and potatoes and in the preparation of traditional Sunday Boston beans. In barbecue sauces, it often replaces cane sugar in recipes.
Maple sugar is extracted in the spring months by piercing the bark of the maple tree. Then the priceless juice begins to flow through the small holes. The famous maple syrup is made from it. And from the maple syrup by complex evaporation the sugar crystals are formed.
An interesting fact is that one tree provides up to 2-3 kilograms of sugar per year.
